Fire District Responds To Trailer Fire In Satsop Early Monday Morning


Grays Harbor Fire District 5 was dispatched to a possible fully engulfed trailer fire in the 200 block of S 5th St Satsop early Monday morning April 2nd.

The initial calls came in for the fire at 2:10 in the morning and Fire District 5 was dispatched with automatic mutual aid requests from Fire District 2 and Elma Fire. 

First engine on the scene was from Fire District 2, Brady, with the trailer fully engulfed.  The second incoming unit from Fire District 5 took command of the scene with the engine from Elma Fire Department taking second attack lines.

There were 2 occupants in the trailer who had evacuated prior to the arrival of the fire units.  A female, 40 of Satsop was seen for facial burns, treated and released at the scene.  The male, boyfriend of the woman was not injured. 

The cause of the fire according to the occupants of the trailer, that matches up with the initial investigation was sparked by the occupants changing a propane tank bottle that started to leak/spray near a heat source that was being provided to the trailer by propane and was in use. 

In total there were 10 agency apparatus that responded from the various agencies and 15 responders. Grays Harbor Fire District 2, and Elma Fire Department played a large role in assisting us in this fire this morning.  Fire units cleared the scene at 4 AM.
