GHFD5 Responds to Wildfire On Monday October 15th, 2018

Grays Harbor Fire District 5 wants to remind the public that even though there is not a county wide burn ban in place, dry weather conditions and wind can take a simple burn pile and make it a large wildfire quickly like the fire we responded to today.

Grays Harbor Fire District 5 responded to the end of Bush Creek Road outside of Elma Monday October 15th, 2018 at 11:16.

The wildfire was started by a burn pile the land owner had been tending got out of control.  The pile had been near a hillside and the fire started to go up the hillside which made the fire more difficult to put out.

Along with members of Fire District 5, Elma Fire Department, Fire District 1 and Fire District 12 all responded to assist.

The fire was under control and under mop up at 1:30 two hours and 15 minutes after we were dispatched.  2 engine crews from Washington State Department of Natural Resources had arrived and are completing the mop up.  One Tender crew from Fire District 1 is remaining on scene providing water supply.
